There are no photos for this week. I did take a few earlier in the week but I want to leave this post empty in memory of a beautiful  little boy who’s smile would light up a room. Our dear friends lost their two year old son tragically early Tuesday morning. To respect their privacy I won’t go into the details of the event. There is so much more on my mind and my heart but the words are not there.

Just hold the ones you love a little more today and all the tomorrows. Don’t assume that people know how much they are loved…. tell them, show them.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory
no one can steal.”

Thank you for your kind words.

This is beyond tragic. Beyond words. I’m so sorry for your friends for their immense loss :(

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Kaiyenna: We sat in your ballet class and I noticed a few things… You love being next to the teacher and you want all of her attention. You are definitely an extrovert. You are very concerned for the rest of the girls in the class. If one of the girls isn’t dancing you will go over to them and try to convince them to dance.

Naiya: I was trying to get a photo of you with your tongue out because you always have it out these days, but of course when I try to take a photo you don’t do it. You are so cute first thing in the morning. You talk to us, smile and you love looking up at the window.
I am excited to join Jodi’s A Portrait a Week project for this year. Diapers and Skinny Jeans had my favorite image from 9/52.

How sweet, she is a caring little soul, making sure all of the girls are ok.

Cutie patootie!

What beautiful thoughts….I am so happy you are writing them down for your children. As I read them tonight I was thinking about how even Connor at 13 y/o would benefit from this type of diary/blog:)

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Kaiyenna: You have been wanting to play “baby” a lot this week. You ask to be swaddled and rocked and you ask me to change you on Naiya’s changing table. I am guessing this is pretty normal for a toddler with a new sibling. We also played that you were the mama and I was the baby. You were putting me down for my nap and I was using all your procrastination tricks… Water… Food…. Book….”I want you”… At one point you came over… kissed me and then told me you needed to go work and that I needed to sleep. I guess I use that excuse a lot around nap time.

Naiya: You are such a mover! It started when you were still in my belly. You LOVE to stand. We will sit you in our lap and hold your hands and when we count to three you start trying to pull yourself up. This is the face you make when you start standing!!! You get so excited!
I am excited to join Jodi’s A Portrait a Week project for this year. Meg Pie had my favorite image from 8/52.

P.S.  Here are a couple other shots from this week that I just had to post.

Love, love, love……the series of pictures of Kaiyenna is just awesome! Your pictures have so much movement and emotion in them! I love how you capture these everyday moments.

A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013.

Kaiyenna: She gave up her pacifier to the pacifier fairy last week so that the fairy could give them to babies that need them. She hasn’t asked for them but she has been having a hard time going to sleep. She usually will settle down if I ask her if she wants to sleep on mommy and pappi’s bed.
Naiya: Is getting better at laying on her tummy and holding her head up. I had my first wedding this week and had to leave her for about 4 hours. When I got home she would not look me in the eyes. It was the craziest thing. She would look in her papi’s eyes and smile but she would not look at me.
I am excited to join Jodi’s A Portrait a Week project for this year. I need to photograph my children with more then my iPhone!

Such stunning use of light.

First Ballet Class

We checked out a couple books about ballet from the local library this week. I wanted Kaiyenna to see how the ballerinas wear their hair up (She always fights me when I want to do her hair.) It worked. She let me do her hair and she kept it in!!!!! Of course, as soon as we were back in the car she took it out.

The parents were not allowed in the class to watch but we were all peeking through the doorway. From what I could see, she seemed to be enjoying the class. A couple of the times I peeked I saw that she was sticking right next to the teacher.

We stopped at Meme and Papa’s and she showed them a few of her new moves and of course her pretty new ballet outfit.

This is adorable! My daughter also had her first ballet lesson the other week. It was perhaps the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. She’s a little bit uncoordinated but she tries so hard.
